What a garden maintenance visit includes

Most gardens do not need a big job once a year. They need someone turning up often enough that the big job never becomes necessary. That is what garden maintenance is, and it is the difference between a garden you enjoy and a garden you keep meaning to get to.

myMowing looks after gardens across the Northern Beaches, the North Shore, and the wider Sydney area, on regular fortnightly or monthly visits. Same team, same day, no chasing anyone.

Every garden is different, so every visit is set up around what yours actually needs. A standard visit usually covers:

  • Pruning and trimming of shrubs, hedges, and small trees
  • Weeding through garden beds, borders, and pathways
  • Edging along lawns, driveways, and paths
  • Mulching to hold moisture in and keep weeds down
  • A general tidy-up of beds, borders, and entryways
  • Bagging or removal of all green waste and clippings

If you want mowing done on the same visit, we do that too, which saves you booking two separate services and paying two call-out fees.

How often should you book

For most homes, fortnightly works best through spring and summer, when growth is fastest and a fortnight is about how long a garden holds its shape. Through autumn and winter, monthly is usually plenty.

Strata and commercial properties often run fortnightly year-round, because shared areas are judged by how they look on the worst day of the month, not the best.

If you are not sure, start fortnightly. It is easier to stretch the gap out once we have seen how your garden grows than to recover a garden that has got away.

Who we look after

Three kinds of property, and each one is judged differently:

  • Homes and townhouses. Regular visits that keep the garden in shape so it never needs rescuing.
  • Apartments and strata blocks. Communal courtyards, entryways, shared beds and the driveway strips, on a schedule the committee can plan around.
  • Offices and commercial buildings. The front of the building is the first thing a client sees, so it gets done before anyone notices it needed doing.

Garden maintenance for strata and property managers

A good share of our work is strata buildings, apartment blocks, and properties run by managing agents, and it is the part of the job we are set up for.

That means communal courtyards, shared garden beds, rooftop gardens, entryways, and the awkward strips along driveways and fence lines that nobody else wants to deal with. It also means the things property managers actually get complaints about: leaf litter on paths after a windy week, overgrown sightlines near car park entrances, and garden beds that have quietly turned into weeds.

We work to a set schedule so the committee knows when we are coming, and we are happy to report back after each visit if that is what the building needs. Our garden maintenance checklist for property managers and our guide to strata garden rules that actually work set out how we run it.

Mowing and gardening on the one visit

Plenty of people book a mowing service and a gardener separately, then end up coordinating two sets of visits that never line up.

We do both. The lawn gets mown, edged, and cleaned up, and the garden beds get the same attention on the same day. One booking, one invoice, one team that knows the property.

Areas we cover

We work right across the Northern Beaches, including Manly, Dee Why, Brookvale, Freshwater, Narrabeen, Mona Vale, and Avalon, along with the North Shore and the broader Sydney area.

If you are not sure whether you are in range, ask. We will tell you straight either way.

What garden maintenance costs

Pricing depends on the size of the garden, how much there is to do, and how often we visit. A regular fortnightly visit on a standard home garden costs considerably less per visit than a one-off tidy-up, because the work is smaller each time.

The honest version is that a garden on a regular schedule is cheaper to look after than a garden that gets attention twice a year. Send through your details and we will give you a price for your garden rather than a range that means nothing.

Frequently asked questions

What does a garden maintenance service include?

Pruning, weeding, edging, mulching, plant trimming, and a general tidy-up of garden beds and borders. Each visit is tailored to what your garden needs on the day.

How often should I book garden maintenance?

Fortnightly through spring and summer, monthly through the cooler months, suits most homes. Strata and commercial properties usually run fortnightly year-round.

Do you service apartments and strata buildings?

Yes. We look after shared garden areas, communal courtyards, rooftop gardens, and entryways for apartment blocks and strata properties across Sydney.

Do I need to be home during the service?

No. As long as we have access to the garden and any gate or access instructions, you do not need to be there. Most of our regular customers are at work when we visit.

What happens to the green waste?

All clippings, prunings, and garden debris are bagged and taken away as part of the visit. Nothing is left behind for you to deal with.

Can you do a one-off tidy-up instead of a regular service?

Yes. If the garden has got away from you, a one-off garden clean-up is often the right starting point, and you can decide afterwards whether to move onto a regular schedule.

Do you mow lawns as well?

We do. Mowing, edging, and garden maintenance can all be done on the same visit.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. myMowing is fully insured, and we can provide a certificate of currency on request for strata or building management.
